UFC Sao Paulo Bonuses: Oliveira Snags One of Four ‘Performance of the Night’ Awards
Charles Oliveira’s penchant for finishing has been a boon to his bank account.
Oliveira pocketed a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” for his
first-round knockout of Jared
Gordon in a featured lightweight tilt at UFC Fight Night 164 on
Saturday night in Sao Paulo. “Do Bronx” buckled his opponent with a
counter right hand and finished him off with a right uppercut at
the 1:26 mark of the frame for his sixth consecutive finish.
Overall, it is the 15th post-fight bonus of Oliveira’s UFC
tenure.
Elsewhere, James Krause garnered a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check for a knockout of Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Sergio Moraes in a preliminary welterweight scrap. The WEC veteran dropped his foe with a right and sealed his victory with hammerfists 4:19 into Round 3.
Earlier, Ricardo Ramos earned a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for a quick submission of Luiz Eduardo Garagorri in a preliminary featherweight clash. Ramos secured a takedown, transitioned to his opponent’s back and locked in a rear-naked choke to force the tap out at the 3:57 mark of Round 1.
Finally, Randy Brown captured the evening’s last $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus by tapping out Warlley Alves at welterweight. After Alves landed a takedown in the second frame, Brown framed a triangle choke from his back and eventually forced the submission 1:22 into the period.
